British marque Land Rover is showcasing the hybrid version of the Range Rover at this year’s edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. Land Rover says the car represents the first diesel-electric hybrid SUV in the premium segment and will be a frugal vehicle despite having a curb weight of 5,229 lbs (2,372 kg). Fuel consumption stands at 6.4 liters / 100 km (44.1 mpg UK or 36.7 mpg US) thanks to a 3.0-ltier diesel SDV6 engine, an eight-speed automatic gearbox provided by ZF, along with an electric motor. Order books have already opened, with deliveries commencing early next year.
The Range Rover Sport Hybrid will provide a combined output of 340 HP reached at 4,000 rpm while the 700 Nm peak torque will be available between 1,500 rpm and 3,000 rpm. The car will complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in 6.7 seconds before topping out at 140 mph (225 km/h).
