One of the very few cars in the world available right now that has managed to remain a true classic and stick to its roots is the legendary Defender. Land Rover has announced this week the refresh of this model for 2013 which brings Havana and Barolo Black paint finishes for the exterior, along with three additional options. The British automaker mentioned in the press release that the Firenze Red color can be ordered in combination with the Santorini Black roof and the Baltic Blue with the Indus Silver. Also a novelty for the 2013 Defender would have to be the body-hugging seat design which is wrapped partially in leather. It has the company’s logo on the backrest and it is available not only for the driver, but also for the front passenger.

There’s also a third new option introduced with the 2013 model in the form of an upgrade for the vehicle’s sound system that brings an Alpine 150W low-profile subwoofer with 10cm coaxial speakers, as well as support for Bluetooth.

As far as motivation is concerned, the 2013 Defender will be offered with the same turbocharged 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 120 HP (122 PS) which enables the vehicle to perform the 0-62 mph sprint in 14.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 90 mph, exactly the same numbers as the outgoing model. LR says that the Defender 90 has CO2 emissions of 266 g/km on the combined cycle, while the Defender 110 and 130 emit 295 g/km.
