After last month’s teaser, Land Rover has introduced the Range Rover Evoque Cabrio production version and they will show it at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. It’s based on the three-door Evoque, but now instead of the fixed metal roof it has an electrically retractable soft top t which needs 18 seconds to fold down and 21 seconds to get back into position. It can be operated through a button mounted on the center console at speeds of up to 48 km/h (30 mph) and Land Rover says the extra layer of acoustic insulation ensures the same level of comfort as in the regular Evoque.
It manages to offer a maximum cargo capacity of 251 liters, regardless if the roof is up or down and it can be fitted with a rear wind deflector which increases comfort when positioned between the rear three quarter trim panels. There’s also an RPD – Roll-over Protection Device which will automatically deploy two aluminum-made bars in as little as 90 milliseconds to enable a protection space for those inside the cabin in case of a roll-over situation.
The US-spec model gets a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine which allows the Range Rover Evoque Cabrio hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in 7.8 seconds before achieving a maximum speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).
It will go on sale mid-2016, with pricing kicking off in U.S. from $50,475.
