Land Rover has managed to auction off the Defender 2,000,000 for no less than £400,000. The sale took place this week at a Bonhams charity auction and the winning bidder has wished to remain anonymous, but we do know he is from Qatar.  Chances are we are dealing with the most expensive production Land Rover ever sold and the good news is the money will go to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Born Free Foundation. The funds will be utilized to help out the communities in the South-East Nepal region and also to support the Project Lion Rover wildlife conservation initiative that takes place in Kenya at the Meru National Park.

The car in question is the 2,000,000th Defender built by Land Rover at the famous factory in Solihull. The vehicle was assembled back in May with help from Land Rover ambassadors such as Bear Grylls as well as by the sons of the company’s founder Maurice Wilks. Compared to the regular Defender, this one comes with special badging, an engraved map of Red Wharf Bay, different seats and an aluminum plaque signed by those involved in the building process.

The Defender will be discontinued early next year and it won’t be until 2017 or 2018 when a new generation will be launched.
