Land Rover has published new teaser footage with their upcoming Range Rover Evoque Cabrio. It’s being described as the “world’s first luxury  compact SUV convertible” and will be revealed in full sometime next month, with deliveries to kick off in the spring of 2016. In this latest teaser, we get to see “the convertible for all seasons” conducting final testing to make sure it will still be able to offer proper off-road capabilities as all Land Rovers should. However, there are slim chances any of those who will buy the vehicle will actually take it off-roading to find out if it’s a fully-fledged four-wheel drive crossover.

It will be based on the three-door Evoque but obviously it will lose the fixed metal roof in favor of an electrically retractable soft top. Aside from getting a different top, the cabrio version of Land Rover’s posh crossover will also have a redesigned rear end as the trunk’s shape had to be changed in order to have enough room to store the roof when not in position.

Land Rover has announced plans to bring the Range Rover Evoque Cabrio at the Los Angeles Auto Show programmed for the second half of November.

Land Rover has managed to auction off the Defender 2,000,000 for no less than £400,000. The sale took place this week at a Bonhams charity auction and the winning bidder has wished to remain anonymous, but we do know he is from Qatar.  Chances are we are dealing with the most expensive production Land Rover ever sold and the good news is the money will go to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Born Free Foundation. The funds will be utilized to help out the communities in the South-East Nepal region and also to support the Project Lion Rover wildlife conservation initiative that takes place in Kenya at the Meru National Park.

The car in question is the 2,000,000th Defender built by Land Rover at the famous factory in Solihull. The vehicle was assembled back in May with help from Land Rover ambassadors such as Bear Grylls as well as by the sons of the company’s founder Maurice Wilks. Compared to the regular Defender, this one comes with special badging, an engraved map of Red Wharf Bay, different seats and an aluminum plaque signed by those involved in the building process.

The Defender will be discontinued early next year and it won’t be until 2017 or 2018 when a new generation will be launched.

There will always be a special place in our hearts for Defender, among all our employees, but this is not the end. We have a glorious past to champion, and a wonderful future to look forward to.”

Land Rover Discovery 2017 Aims To Combine Luxury With Versatility

Land Rover is the leader in the luxury SUV market, with a line of four-wheel drive vehicles that manage to be both fun to drive and luxurious. But the big knock against the cars is that they aren’t especially versatile, and that’s a problem Land Rover tackles head-on with its new 2017 Land Rover Discovery.

land-rover-discovery

The seven-passenger vehicle has all of the extras you would to see, ranging from luxury seats to a new feature that allows drivers to configure the seats and do other adjustments with a smartphone app. Land Rovers have always seemed to be a living room on wheels and the new Discovery adds all the tech and gadgets you’d ever want.

But the vehicle now also includes a series of improvements designed to make it more useful to drivers more interested in its usability. The biggest improvement is the addition of an all-new advanced tow assist package, which helps the driver back up when towing a trailer. The package comes with multiple cameras and a collision alert system.

The 2017 Land Rover Discovery isn’t cheap and it isn’t for everyone. But if you’re in the market for a luxury SUV, this vehicle is definately the best in its class.

2020 Range Rovers – A Review of the 2020 Power Plants

$

0

For 2020, Land Rovers premium SUV line, Range Rover, renames all its 12 trims and brings its first U.S. gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain. With design updates and additional features, there has been a lot of activity in Jaguar Land Rovers design centers. Here’s a few details for you to consider.

Petrol Engines

The two supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engines in the base (340 hp) and HSE (380 hp) trims have retired. In their place is a 3.0-liter in-line 6 with a turbocharger, an electric supercharger, a belt-driven motor-generator (replacing the alternator,) and a 48-volt subsystem. Power, torque, and fuel economy should all improve with this hybrid setup. The base P360 makes 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. In the HSE P400, this engine churns out 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft.

Hybrid Engines

The biggest news is a plug-in hybrid designated the HSE P400e. The HSE P400e marries a turbo 2.0-liter inline-four with a 114-hp electric motor and a 13.1-kWh battery. At 398 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque, this tiny engine promises up to 31 miles of zero-emission driving. Although the price is $97,245, the PHEV is an attractive alternative to other hybrids even without figuring in the expected federal tax credit of $6295. The best news, the P400e can be ordered in top Autobiography trim. Formerly reserved for the V-8 models, this trim is loaded with tech and the most lavish two-tone interiors available. At $131,595, this is the nicest plug-in SUV on sale today.

Diesel Engines

But despite its green underpinnings, the plug-in hybrid will be hard pressed to top the diesel’s 29-mpg highway rating. Land Rover of North Dade (FL) reiterates that VW is still committing to thrifty, torquey diesels while certain companies are retreating. Renamed from Td6 to D260, the turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 returns with 254 horsepower and 443 lb-ft. The more lushly equipped HSE offers the same engine. Both the D260 and HSE models require a small refill of DEF at each oil change, but no nightly recharging is needed!

Trims
We won’t get into the dozens upon dozens of configurations available to each Rover—or the potential to pay the equivalent of a new Honda Civic for a two-tone paint finish. For 2020, Land Rover has replaced Loire Blue with Portofino Blue and Corris Grey with Eiger Grey. A new 22-inch black wheel is also available. Every Range Rover comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and off-road goodies including full-time four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, and a height-adjustable air suspension.
