The Range Rover Sentinel has been introduced as an armored variant of the standard wheelbase Autobiography model. It costs just shy of €400,000 and offers VR8 level certification, so it can withstand to attacks with 7.62 high velocity, armor-piercing incendiary bullets as well as to 15 kg TNT lateral blasts. It was developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) and will resist to attacks with DM51 grenades from above the roof and beneath the floor. It comes with a 6-piece armored passenger cell made from super-high-strength steel and has been fitted with multi-laminated armor privacy glass that offers proper protection without affecting visibility.
The Range Rover Sentinel is powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine with 340 PS working together with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF which had to be reworked for this armored version. The vehicle sits on large 20-inch rims that come wrapped around in run-flat, heavy-duty tires. Other changes include an upgraded suspension and tweaks to the Dynamic Stability Control and Ride Stability Control systems while an auxiliary back-up battery and a split charging system were added as well.
It has a maximum payload capacity of 650 kg and benefits from a self-sealing fuel tank together with an anti-tamper exhaust system and an emergency escape system positioned behind the rear seats.
